Acted on CM's recommendation, says Kerala Guv on Saji Cheriyan's swearing-in ceremony

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan refused to entertain reports that he is trying to lock horns with the state government in connection with Saji Cheriyan's swearing-in ceremony.

Responding to the media after Raj Bhavan gave consent to go ahead with the swearing-in ceremony to reinstate Cheriyan, Khan said he only agreed to the Chief Minister's recommendation.

"The swearing-in ceremony will be held on Wednesday. I have informed the Chief Minister about what I have to say. I am not planning to discuss this on public forums. The decision was taken on the basis of CM's recommendation," he said.

Earlier, there were reports that the Governor received legal advice which stated that Saji Cheriyan could be reinducted only after the court acquits him of all charges in connection with the case. Despite these rumours, the Governor agreed to CM's recommendation and allowed swearing-in ceremony on Wednesday.
