Acclaimed scientist ECG Sudarshan passes away in Texas
Texas: Indian theoretical physicist E. C. George Sudarshan, 86, passed away at Texas in America. He was noted for his contributions to the field of theoretical physics.
He hailed from Pallam in Kottayam. His full name is Ennackal Chandy George Sudarshan. He was born to E I Chandy and Achamma on September 16, 1931.
ECG Sudarshan was a professor at the University of Texas. He figured in the Nobel Prize list nine times.
The theoretical physicist has made numerous contributions including optical coherence, Quantum zero effect, Sudarshan-Glauber representation, V-A theory among others.
He was honoured with numerous awards like ICTP Dirac Medal, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, Majorana Prize, TWAS Prize, C. V. Raman Award among other awards.
Earlier, he had worked in Institute of Mathematical Sciences (IMSc) in Chennai, Harvard University, University of Rochester, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) and Indian Institute of Science.
