Accepting foreign aid without permission: Centre to probe against Jaleel

New Delhi: The Union Finance Ministry is likely to launch a probe against Kerala Minister KT Jaleel in connection with accepting foreign aid without permission from the Centre. The action will be taken as per the Foreign Exchange Management Act. National Investigation Agency (NIA) will also probe against Jaleel.

Jaleel had earlier took to Facebook and posted on accepting aid from UAE Consulate. The central government had received many complaints against it. Also, there were allegations against Jaleel on accepting and distributing Quran copies from UAE Consulate.

The Ministry is gearing up for a probe after it received many complaints from Kerala. It is expected that the further proceedings will begin by next week.

Centre evaluated that prima facie, there has been violation of Foreign Exchange Management Act.

According to sources, the External Affairs Ministry had discussed the allegations relating to Life Mission project and Jaleel issue the other day and the matter was brought to the attention of Finance Ministry.
