Kannur: The judicial first class magistrate court at Mattannur here on Friday evening witnessed dramatic scenes as Akash Thillankeri, who had been ‘absconding’ after the DYFI woman leader complained against him, surrendered. He along with co-accused Jijo Thillankeri, Jayaprakash and Thillankeri got bail in the case.

The police had maintained that Akash had been absconding. Interestingly, Akash turned up and surrendered at the court, when arrested co-accused were brought there. The dramatic surrendering has given more ammo to the Opposition alleging police-ruling CPM clout.

Akash is also accused of the sensational murder of SP Shuhaib, a Youth Congress activist.
