‘Absconding’ farmer to return from Israel; Will not evoke retaliatory action, says Kerala minister

Kochi: Reports have emerged that Biju Kurian, the farmer who went 'absconding' from the Kerala delegation who visited Israel will reach the state on Monday. According to Kurian’s brother, the person will land at Kozhikode airport around 4 am. He noted that Kurian intimated the matter on the phone and the latter has done with emigration formalities.

Meanwhile, Kerala agriculture minister P Prasad maintained that the government had not received any official intimation regarding the matter. However, he noted that Kurian’s brother had conveyed the matter to him. The minister pointed out that the government will not evoke any retaliatory measures against the act done by the person.

The government earlier had initiated procedures to cancel the visa of the person. Indian Embassy in Israel was intimated for cancelling Kurian's visa, said reports. The new development comes at this juncture.
