Abhimanyu murder: One of the key accused nabbed
Kochi: One more person has been nabbed in connection with the murder of Maharaja’s College student and SFI activist Abhimanyu.
Police nabbed Campus Front State Secretary Muhammad Rifa from Bengaluru.
Police hinted that Muhammad Rifa, a student at a Law College in Ernakulam, is the main conspirator in the murder.
It was Muhammad Rifa who brought the killer gang to Maharaja's College Campus. With this crucial arrest, police have received a clear picture about the other accused in the murder.
Police said that all the accused in the case will be arrested soon.
Police assume that the decision to tackle SFI in Maharaja’s College was taken at the district committee meeting in which Rifa participated.
Subsequently, Rifa reached the campus with activists from outside after the dispute arose regarding pasting of posters, police said.
This gang stabbed Abhimanyu and Arjun. Police hint that more details about the conspiracy will emerge on questioning Rifa.
Popular Front activists in Karnataka helped the accused remain in hiding.
With the arrest of state leader Muhammad Rifa, the argument of Campus Front and Popular Front that they are not involved in the murder, is weakening.
The person who stabbed Abhimanyu is yet to be nabbed. Police have identified the person.
