Abduction of industrialist: CPM leader Zakir Hussain acquitted
Kochi: The Ernakulam CJM court has acquitted four accused, including CPM leader V A Zakir Hussain, in the 2015 case of abduction of an industrialist. The acquittal comes after the witnesses, including the key witness, turned hostile. The court observed that the prosecution failed to prove the case.
The other accused who were acquitted by the court include Karukappilly Siddique, Thammanam Faisal and Sheela Thomas. The cases filed against the accused were abduction, conspiracy, physical assault and threatening. It was alleged that Hussain directed the two accused in the case to abduct the industrialist and threaten him while keeping him in the Kalamassery Area Committee office.
The incidents related to the case happened in June 2015. Police had arrested Zakir Hussain who was the Secretary of Kalamassery Area Committee and Ernakulam District Committee member. Zakir Hussain is at present a branch committee member.
