Thrissur: In a unique initiative, inmates of the Thrissur Govt. Mental Health Centre have received Aadhaar cards despite not having a name, address, or kin.

A total of 18 inmates have recieved their Aadhaar cards through the joint efforts of the Mental health care centre and Akshaya centre run by AD Jayan in Ayyanthole. Jayan assisted the officials in providing services to the inmates free of cost.

The verification and the biometrics of inmates were collected at a hospital nearby. Meanwhile, the verification of those with violent behaviour was carried out inside the hospital cell.

Dr TR Rekha, Govt. Mental Health Centre superintendent provided necessary arrangements for the works.
