Thiruvananthapuram: DYFI leader A A Rahim has raised allegation against Muslim League MLA K M Shaji. Rahim alleged that Shaji has turned into an example for black money deals and making illegal assets. He added that the affidavits which Shaji submitted in various elections in the previous years clearly shows the unusual growth in his assets.

Rahim also demanded that Shaji should disclose the source of this wealth. In 2016, the assets declared in the affidavit was Rs 47.80 lakh. A house under construction also was mentioned in this. It was also stated that Rs 10 lakh was taken as loan for the construction, Rahim said.

In a report submitted by the Vengeri village officer, it was noted that the house has 3 stories and has an area of 5660 square kilometres. This was built when he had permit to construct only 2 stories.

According to the estimate of that time, at least Rs 4 crore might have spent for this house. If his assets was worth Rs 47.80 lakh, where did he get the remaining amount, Rahim asked.

When asked about this, Shaji said that he earned it from ginger farming in Karnataka. But he did not mention it in the affidavit submitted in 2016. Also, he has to show the bank records of the profit earned from this farm.

Shaji keeps lying and he believes that politics is a way of making profit. Shaji is an underworld farmer and should resign his MLA post which is under controversy, Rahim demanded.
