A tearful adieu to a well respected man in the locality
Kaduthuruthy: Mathrubhumi stringer Saji who died after the boat capsize incident in Kariyar, received a tearful adieu on his final journey. Thousands of people arrived at Pattasseril house to pay respects to Saji, a well-respected man in the locality.
For the last 14 years, Saji was working as a local correspondent in Kaduthuruthy. He ventured into journalism through ACV news. Later he became the local correspondent for Mathrubhumi News. Saji was operating a studio in Appanchira even before he stepped into media. In the long run, people and friends added ‘Megas’, his studio name as a prefix to his name. He, then became Megas Saji.
He coordinated the media job from his studio. The news stories reported by Saji had brought many social issues to the attention of authorities. His journey to bring to light the hardship of people in Mundar had become his last in this line.
After post-mortem, Saji's body was laid for the public to pay homage at Kaduthuruthy and Appanchira. Mathrubhumi channel chief of news Unni Balakrishnan, Mathrubhumi Kottayam works committee secretary V C Jayakumar paid homage by laying wreaths. Journalists, various leaders, traders and locals paid homage.
Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala, Monce Joseph MLA and other prominent persons also paid homage to the departed.
