Palakkad: Veteran Congress leader A Ramaswamy has quit the party. He was KPCC executive committee member and former district chairman of UDF. He has decided to support LDF in the upcoming assembly election.

Ramaswamy was staying away from election campaign in protest over the neglect he faced from the party. Following this, DCC president V K Sreekandan, former chief minister Oommen Chandy, opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala, KPCC president Mullapally Ramachandran and MP K Sudhakaran had held talks with him.

After the talks, Ramaswamy attended some campaign events. However, later he declared that he is quitting the party. He was annoyed over giving the Nenmara seat to CMP. Ramaswamy said that he was totally neglected even after working for the party for 55 years. He alleged that he was not considered even during the party reorganisation.

Palakkad is my working area. When Shafi Parambil came here 10 years ago, only I was present here to work for him. The leaders had said that I will be considered in Nenmara sear if Shafi is not switching the seat, Ramaswamy made it clear.
