New Delhi: Former Congress leader A P Abdullakkutty has joined the BJP. He received membership in the saffron party from BJP working president J. P. Nadda in the presence of union minister V Muraleedharan.
Abdullakkutty had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah on Tuesday. The former CPM man was ousted from Congress after publishing a Facebook praising the PM following his sweeping victory in the Lok Sabha elections.
Speaking to media after joining the saffron party, Abdullakkutty said he has become a national Muslim after joining the BJP. “My goal is to fill the gap between BJP and Muslims,” he added.
Abdullakkutty was ousted from CPM in similar circumstances. Back then he joined the Congress and later became an MLA.
