A new system for darshan in Sabarimala, like Tirupati model
Thiruvananthapuram: A new system will be put in place for darshan at Sabarimala temple. Similar to the existing one at Tirupathi temple, the new system is being designed by Kerala Police.
By digitalising the whole process, the idea is to make darshans, offerings and residential facilities available online. The police department, Devaswom board and KSRTC are joining hands to implement this.
The crime records bureau has been given the responsibility of developing a new pilgrim management software. The decision to develop a new system has been taken because of the defects identified with the virtual queue system, which is still in place.
The new system, known as Digitised Pilgrim Management, was proposed to be implemented soon after the Supreme Court judgement. However, owing to practical difficulties it had to be backtracked. M. Padmakumar, Devaswom board president, has said that preference will be given for those pilgrims who have booked their darshans online although virtual queue will continue to exist.
These pilgrims will be told beforehand, when they will have to reach Pamba and Nilakkal. KSRTC bus services shall be scheduled accordingly. The bookings are expected to commence from October last.
