8 new COVID-19 cases in Kerala on Tuesday: K. K. Shailaja
Thiruvananthapuram: Health Minister K. K. Shailaja on Tuesday said that 8 new coronavirus positive cases have been confirmed in Kerala.
Out of the 8 positive cases confirmed on Tuesday, 4 are from Kannur, 3 are from Kozhikode while one is from Kasaragod district. While 5 out of the 8 new cases had returned from abroad, the others developed the disease through contact.
The returnees – 3 from Kannur and one each from Kozhikode and Kasaragod – came back from Dubai, a press release from the Health Minister’s office said.
13 people tested negative on Tuesday. Among them, 6 are from Kannur, two each were from Ernakulam and Palakkad while one each were from Kollam, Thrissur and Malappuram districts.
As on Tuesday, 173 persons are under treatment for COVID-19 at various hospitals while 211 have been cured.
As on Tuesday, 1,07,075 persons are under observation in the state. Among this 1,06,511 are at houses and 564 at hospitals.
On Tuesday alone, 81 persons were admitted to hospitals. So far 16,235 samples have been sent for testing out of which 15,488 have turned negative, the release added.
