Kottayam: Among the expats who returned from Abu Dhabi on Thursday night as part of the repatriation amid coronavirus outbreak, 8 people have been quarantined in Kottayam at the Kothanalloor Thuvanisa retreat centre.
Among the 8 expats, five are men and three are women.
A 64-year-old Thalayolaparambu native, his wife (56), Amayannoor native (40), Panachikkad native (39), Pallam native (36), Athirampuzha native (53) and a 51-year-old Karukachal native are the eight people who returned from Abu Dhabi in the special flight.
At the same time, three pregnant women, the mother of a pregnant woman, a one-year-old baby and a 77-year-old woman were allowed to go home from the airport. They were asked to strictly observe home quarantine.
Kuruppanthara Primary Health Centre (PHC) is in charge of observing the expats who are at the quarantine centre. Two health volunteers have been deployed for the purpose. The junior health inspector will visit the people who are in home quarantine every day.
Those who are at the quarantine centres are allowed to contact doctors over phone. Manjoor village panchayat is arranging food and other essential facilities for the quarantined expats. Manjoor village officer is in charge of supervising all these tasks.
