Thiruvananthapuram: A total of 8,126 new Covid-19 cases were reported in Kerala on Thursday. The test positivity rate was recorded at 13.34 percent.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Ernakulam - 1,267, Kozhikode – 1,062, Thiruvananthapuram – 800, Kottayam – 751, Malappuram – 744, Thrissur – 704, Kannur – 649, Palakkad – 481, Kollam – 399, Pathanamthitta – 395, Alappuzha – 345, Idukki – 205, Wayanad – 166 and Kasaragod – 158..
Oone of the UK returnees tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. So far, 105 people returned from UK, 7 from South Africa and 1 from Brazil tested positive for the virus infection. 109 of them have recovered. So far, 11 patients have been identified with the mutant virus strain.
60,900 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. In total, 1,40,13,857 samples including routine sample, sentinel sample, CBNAAT, Truenat, POCT, PCR, RTLAMP, antigen were sent for the tests.
20 deaths were confirmed due to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. The total number of deaths in the state has touched 4,856. Test results from Alappuzha NIV are awaited to confirm other suspected Covid deaths.
238 of the coronavirus patients came from outside the state. 7,226 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 642 persons remains unidentified.
20 health workers also tested positive for Covid on Thursday.
2,700 recoveries were also reported in the state
There are 63,650 active Covid-19 cases in the state. 11,28,475 people have recovered from the disease. 1,94,808 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 1,85,893 are under home/institutional quarantine and 8,326 people are in hospitals. 1,479 people were taken to hospitals on Thursday.
