Thiruvananthapuram: A total of 794 people are confirmed with COVID-19 in the state on Monday. Among them, 182 cases were reported in Thiruvananthapuram, 92 in Kozhikode, 79 in Kollam, 72 in Ernakulam, 53 in Alappuzha, 50 in Malappuram, 49 in Palakkad, 48 in Kannur, 46 in Kottayam, 42 in Thrissur, 28 in Kasaragod, 26 in Wayanad, 24 in Idukki and 3 in Pathanamthitta.
The results also includes the test of Sister Claire who died on July 16 in Ernakulam. With this, the number of COVID deaths rose to 43. Among the positive cases reported today, 148 people came from abroad, 105 from other states. 519 patients were infected through contact. Among them the source of disease of 24 patients is not traced.
Out of the 519 people who contracted the disease through contact, 170 are reported in Thiruvananthapuram, 71 in Kollam, 59 in Ernakulam, 44 in Kozhikode, 38 in Kottayam, 29 in Palakkad, 24 in Alappuzha, 22 in Thrissur, 15 in Kannur, 14 in Idukki, 13 in Malappuram, 11 in Kasaragod, 7 in Wayanad and 2 in Pathanamthitta.
15 health workers also were infected with COVID-19 through contact. Among them, 4 people are from Thiruvananthapuram, 3 each from Alappuzha and Ernakulam, 2 each from Malappuram and Kollam and one from Kozhikode. In addition to this, 2 BSF personnel in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam and 4 KSC officers in Thrissur also were affected with the disease.
Apart from this, 245 people who were under treatment have recovered from COVID-19. Among them, 93 patients are from Palakkad, 45 from Thrissur, 35 from Malappuram (Palakkad -1, Kozhikode -2), 19 from Kottayam (Pathanamthitta -1, Idukki -1), 16 from Pathanamthitta, 10 from Kasaragod, 9 from Alappuzha, 8 from Ernakulam (Alappuzha-1), 4 each from Kozhikode (Pathanamthitta-1) and Kannur (Kozhikode-1), and 2 from Thiruvananthapuram (Kollam-1).
With this, there are a total of 7611 COVID patients are remaining in treatment. 5618 patients recovered so far. 1,65,223 are under quarantine in various districts. 1,57,523 are in home/institutional quarantine and 7710 are in hospitals. 871 people were hospitalised on Monday.
A total of 14,640 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. 5,46,000 samples were tested so far including routine sample, CB-NAAT test, airport surveillance, Truenat, CLIA and antigen assay test. Results of 5969 tests among them are awaited. Out of the 98,115 samples collected from priority groups as part of sentinel surveillance, 94,016 results were negative.
