Two people, who suffered serious injuries, were admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru while the others were rushed to various hospitals in Kanhangad.

Rajapuram (Kasaragod): Seven persons were killed when a bus, in which a wedding party was travelling, happened to fall on top of a house at Panathur-Sullia road in Pariyaram here. Many people sustained injuries in the accident.

The mishap took place on Sunday at 12.30 pm. The deceased include two children, two women and three men. All of them are Karnataka natives.

The deceased were identified as Shreyas (13), son of Arthamulla native Narayana Naik, Sullia native Ravi Chandra (40), wife Jayalakshmi (39), Belnad native Rajesh (45), Puthoor native Sumathi, Puthoor native Adarsh (14) and Bandial native Sasidhara Poojari.

The bodies of 5 of the deceased are kept at the Poodamkally Taluk Hospital. The body of Adarsh is kept at Kanhangad hospital. Sasidhara Poojari, who had sustained grievous injuries in the accident, died at a hospital in Mangalore.

The driver lost control of the bus while descending a slope. The bus rammed a tree and fell off the road on top of a house. The house is owned by a person named Jose. The house was damaged partially. Nobody was inside the house at the time of the mishap. There were about 70 people inside the bus, as per reports. The rescue operation was held by the fire force and local residents.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressed grief over the incident. The chief minister informed that treatment facilities have been arranged for the injured.

District collector Dr D Sajith Babu informed that Kanhangad sub collector was assigned to investigate about Panathur bus accident.
