61 new COVID-19 cases in Kerala on Sunday; 15 test negative
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 61 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday while 15 tested negative, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan informed through his official Facebook page.
Among the new cases 12 are from Palakkad district, 10 are from Kasaragod, 7 are from Kannur, 6 each are form Kollam and Alappuzha, 4 each are from Thiruvananthapuram and Pathanamthitta, 3 each are from Thrissur, Malappuram and Wayanad, 2 are form Kozhikode while one is from Ernakulam district.
Out of the 61new cases, 20 had returned from abroad (Kuwait-5, UAE-8, Oman-4, Saudi Arabia-1, Qatar-1 and Maldives-1). 37 had returned from other states (Maharashtra-20, Tamil Nadu-6, Delhi-5, Karnataka-4, Gujarat-1, Rajasthan-1). 4 persons, 2 each from Palakkad and Kollam districts, contracted the disease through contact.
Meanwhile the test results of 15 COVID-19 patients turned negative on Sunday. This includes 5 from Kannur district (including a Kasaragod native), 4 from Kozhikode, 2 each from Pathanamthitta and Malappuram and one each from Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam.
There are 670 active COVID-19 cases in Kerala as of now while 590 recovered.
Till date, 19,662 persons have entered the state via airports and 1,621 via seaports while 1,00,572 crossed the borders to Kerala through checkposts and 9,796 on trains. A total of 1,31,651 persons have returned to Kerala.
Meanwhile, 1,34,654 are kept under observation with 1,33,413 in house/institutional quarantine while 1,241 in hospitals. 208 have been newly admitted to hospitals on Sunday.
In the last 24 hours, 3099 samples were sent for testing. 67,371 samples including augmented samples were sent for test till date. Out of this 64,093 samples tested negative. Out of the 12,506 samples collected through sentinel surveillance, 11,604 tested negative.
