Malappuram: When reports on death of Malappuram native who joined ISIS came to light, it was also revealed that 60 Keralites are still serving the terror group in Afghanistan. The deceased was identified as Muhammad Muhasin. A message to his relatives disclosed the number of Keralites in ISIS.
“Within a span of few years, 98 people joined ISIS. Among them 38 people were killed. 60 people are still fighting for ISIS,” reads the message.
The Intelligence Bureau reported that they received an information that Malappuram native Muhasin joined ISIS through Husaifa Al Bakistani, an ISIS commander in Afghanistan.
Muhasin went missing in 2017. While leaving home, Muhasin told his family that he is going for a tour from college. In October 2017, his family was informed that he joined ISIS.

When he arrives home from college, he used to lock his room and spend time browsing internet. It is hinted that his virtual activities connected him with ISIS.
