6-year-old Darius Prabhu and 60-year-old Vijayan swimming in Payyambalam sea along with trainer Charlson Ezhimala
Kannur: After gaining attention by swimming in the river and backwater, 6-year-old Darius Prabhu has made headlines by swimming in the sea. Kathiroor native E Vijayan, who is 60-years-old also swam with the boy proving age is only a number.
Both of them swam in Payyambalam sea as part of the performance organised by Charlson Swimming Academy. The swimming performance was conducted encouraging all to learn swimming so that they can save themselves and others from water accidents.
Darius Prabhu had already swam across the Perumba river and Kavvayi backwaters. He learned swimming under the training of Charlson Ezhimala. Darius is son of Kanyakumari native Binesh Prabhu, principal medical officer at Ezhimala Naval Academy, and B Chithra. He is a class 1 student at Ezhimala Naval Children’s School.
The swimming performance was held under the tight security of Life Guards and Coastal Police. The performance was flagged off by district panchayat president P P Divya on at 7.05 am Friday.
Kannur Mayor T O Mohanan, Sports Council district president K K Pavithran and Adventure Academy special officer P Pranitha received Darius and Vijayan after the performance ended at Payyambalam beach by 8.10 am.
