Thiruvananthapuram: A complaint has been lodged before the state police chief claiming that six Malayalis, including five women, have gone missing during a religious trip to Israel.

The complaint was filed by a priest who led a team of 26 members from Kerala to Israel. The trip started on February 6. It is said that missing individuals left behind their passports before disappearing.

Since 2006, the priest has conducted many religious trips to various countries. A travel agency in Tiruvalla organised the latest trip. The group covered Egypt, Israel and Jordan.

The team arrived in Israel on February 11. As per the complaint, three individuals went missing from the hotel on February 13 and three more the next day. The Israel police have collected information from the team and have launched a probe.

Earlier this week, a Malayali farmer, who was part of the 27-member team sent to Israel to learn modern farming techniques, also went missing. His team members alleged that he had intentionally stayed back to earn money due to better payment offered there.
