Kozhikode: Mysery shrouds the escape journey of the six girls who went missing from the children’s home in Kozhikode and were traced by the police after a two-day long intense search.
Police and the children’s home authorities inferred earlier that the girls could not have gone far away as they had no cash with them. But, the investigating officers were taken aback by the information that the girls reached Madiwala in Bengaluru within hours. It has been reported that the girls bought a mobile phone soon after leaving the children’s home for Rs 500. The money was paid via Google Pay contacting someone through the phone. Police informed that the girls boarded a bus and made the person guiding them send Rs 2,000 to the account of the conductor via Google Pay. The conductor allegedly gave them the ticket along with the balance amount in cash. Police are conducting a detailed probe regarding this.
Police have arrested two youth in relation to the case and are investigating whether they sent money to the girls during the escape. The investigation will also find out if any other persons are involved in the case other than the two men in custody.
The girls have reported to the police that the men forcefully made them drink liquor and attempted to sexually abuse them. Hence, the investigation may be carried out by imposing serious charges against the accused. One of the girls brought back to the children’s home was tested positive for Covid. They will be presented in the court after a detailed medical examination.
