5th charge sheet in Koodathayi murder case submitted
Vatakara: The 5th charge sheet in the Koodathayi serial murder was submitted at the Thamarassery Magistrate court on Thursday morning. The charge sheet was related to the murder of Tom Thomas of Ponnamattom house. Rural SP K G Simon said at a press meet that Tom Thomas was murdered only with the intention of grabbing his property. The charge sheet included 175 witnesses, 173 documents and in 1069 pages.
The charge sheet mentions that as Tom Thomas was in the habit of taking mushroom capsules, Jolly intended to murder him by injecting cyanide into the capsules and give it to him. Jolly had given the capsules to Tom before the evening prayers. During the prayer time, Tom Thomas collapsed and though he was rushed to the hospital, his life could not be saved.
Jolly was named the first accused in the case while M S Mathew who handed over the poison to Jolly is the second accused and Prajukumar the 3rd accused for bringing the cyanide. The main witness in the case is Jolly’s son Remo who had told police that he had seen his mother give the capsule to Tom.
Tom Thomas used to have capsules daily. Hence Jolly was under the impression that he could be killed easily just by giving capsules laced with cyanide. The locals who rushed immediately to the place and the auto driver who took Tom to the hospital have been named as witnesses in the charge sheet.
