Alappuzha: With only hours left for the commencement of the 59th Kerala School Kalolsavam, the preparations are in the final stage. Alappuzha is all set to host the biggest cultural event of Asia, after the floods, the worst disaster that the state had witnessed in a century. The festival, that will be carried out in 29 venues in 3 days, will be conducted in a modest way without leaving its true spirit.
Competitions will begin at different venues in and around Alappuzha town on Friday 9am onwards. To conduct the event in a meagre manner, the inaugural session and procession related to the festival are cut off this time. There are no arches, decorations and stages built, but will be using the auditoriums and stages at the schools selected as venues.
The event will start exactly at 9am on Friday in all venues. Main venue is set at Leo XIII Higher Secondary School. Media centre, pavilions of various media houses and police have been arranged here. Food is arranged at EMS stadium. Strictly following the green norms, food venue has only steel plates and glasses to serve eateries.
‘Friendly Autorickshaws’ will conduct services to provide smooth transportation between various venues. Besides, student cadets, teachers and volunteers will assist the contesters and those who accompany them.
