Kochi: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has declared the party won’t give 50 per cent representation for women in the state committee. He was addressing the media here on Thursday.

“Are you want to destroy the party?,” Kodiyeri asked the media person who raised the question on 50 per cent representation for women in the state committee.

“Is your question intend to destroy the party or give practical recommendations. Giving 50 per cent representation for women in the state committee is not practical,” he added.

Interestingly, Kodiyeri has given the reply soon after commenting on the need to ensure gender equality and put an end to patriarchy.

Women leaders including minister R Bindhu criticised the party leaders over gender inequality within the party while attending the CPM state conference. Following this, the party has decided to increase women's representation in all units.
