5-year-old schoolboy critically injured in stray dog attack
Wandoor: A five-year-old boy sustained serious injuries after he was attacked by a stray dog when standing on the school compound.
The victim was identified as Ayad, son of Shihab, a native of Wandoor. The boy, sustained injuries all over his body, head and face. He is undergoing treatment at the Manjeri Medical College Hospital.
The incident took place around 12 noon on Wednesday at a private English medium school opposite to Wandoor police station. Ayad was standing on the school ground when a stray dog attacked him from behind.
Ayad sustained over 12 bites on his head, face, chin and legs. Ayad was rushed to the Wandoor taluk hospital where he was administered first aid. He was then taken to the Manjeri Medical College Hospital for further treatment. Following the incident, local residents killed the dog.
On Wednesday morning, a stray dog had chased a college student at Mattakkulam in Vaniyambalam. The student sustained injuries after falling on the ground but managed to escape from being bitten.
Several days ago, five people including a school student were bitten by stray dogs. All were admitted to different hospitals.
