Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that 2,103 beds have been arranged in the district at 17 First Line Treatment Centres and 18 more FLTCs with 1,817 beds will soon be arranged.

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday said that showing no signs of abating, the state capital continues to be a source of Covid-19.

There are 5 large clusters in the district – Poonthura, Pulluvila, Puthukurichi, Anchuthengu and Bheemapalli. The situation in these regions is such that the infection is being spread to nearby areas, CM added during the daily press meet.

In Pulluvila, within 10 days, 671 Covid samples were tested and 288 turned positive with 42.92 percent test positivity rate. On July 20, 50 samples were tested and 11 turned positive. On July 21, 22 out of 46 samples tested positive. On July 22, 22 out of 48 and on July 23, 8 out of 36 samples tested turned positive.

In Poonthura, on July 20, 54 samples were tested and 18 turned positive. On July 21, 15 out of 64 samples tested positive. On July 22, 22 out of 55 and on July 23, 14 out of 49 samples tested turned positive.

The CM also said that 2,103 beds have been arranged in the district at 17 First Line Treatment Centres and 18 more FLTCs with 1,817 beds will soon be arranged.

Though the rate of infection transmission is decreasing, the restrictions will continue, he further added.
