5 coaches of Parasuram Express reduced; Passengers face harrowing time
Vadakara: Leaving passengers in distress, the railway has cut down 5 coaches in Parasuram express. A large number of people, including students and employees, depend on the train for their daily commutation. As the coaches were reduced, a huge rush is witnessed.
On Monday, passengers were seen struggling to breathe due to the rush. Many people collapsed and vomited with health issues. They were not able to drink water while traveling as they were completely jammed between the passengers. When they alighted from the train, most of them were in a hurry to drink water.
Parasuram express used to witness heavy rush even before cutting down the number of coaches. So, regular passengers are not surprised by it. When the 21 coaches were reduced to 16, passengers experienced tough time in the train.
“The number of coaches are not sufficient for daily commutation of such a large number of passengers. There is no response from the authority even after filing complaints about it,” said passengers.
According to reports, the reduction in the number of coaches from Monday affected over 100 passengers.
The train arrives at Vadakara by 8.05 am. Employees and school students are the regular passengers in the train. Hence, 1000 to 2000 passengers board the train from Vadakara.
A large number of passengers board the train from Kannur and Thalassery stations. Hence, most of the compartments will be full when the train arrives at Vadakara. So, boarding the train is an adventurous task for the people in Vadakara. Due to the heavy rush, passengers especially, short people, are the most affected as they struggle to breathe.
Over 100 passengers board Parasuram Express from Koyilandi station. As the coaches are reduced, many people from Vadakara failed to board the train. Those who managed to get into the train had a tough time throughout the journey.
