Minister AK Saseendran revealed that 4001 students were caught in the last three years for driving vehicles without a license. He also said that an awareness programme based on schools in the state have begun.
He also said that a sum of Rs. 41. 63 crores is due to be paid as tax by inter-state private bus services. Revenue recovery actions are being carried out in order to retrieve the amount from the parties concerned.
Thrissur is the district with maximum number of such violations. 1946 cases have been registered in Thrissur. The minister also revealed that Rs. 2000 has been collected as fine from the violators.
The government is planning to launch electric buses in the state. As of now, five buses rented by KSRTC is being run in Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam. The minister also added that though such buses are eco-friendly, they are not generating the expected revenue.
