4 Malayali students verbally abused, attacked in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal: Four Malayali students of Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (IGNTU) in Madhya Pradesh were allegedly thrashed after being subjected to racial abuse on Saturday.

Nafeel KT, Abhilash R, Adnan, and Adhil Rasheed were allegedly assaulted by a group of security staff while on their way to their hostel. Nafeel claimed that around ten security staff verbally abused and called them "Keralawala" and "South Indian" before attacking them.

The injured students told police that security staff slapped and beat them using batons and kicked them on the ground when they questioned their actions.

The injured were taken to the hospitals by college students and teachers. The students have suffered injuries to their eyes, ears and legs. Later, they were shifted to medical college for further treatment.

Meanwhile, students revealed that similar incidents have happened in the past.
