4 lakh Covishield vaccines to reach Kerala on Tuesday


Thiruvananthapuram: The state can heave a temporary relief in vaccine shortage issue. 4 lakh doses of Covishield vaccine will reach the state on Tuesday. The vaccines will reach Thiruvananthapuram by 8.20 pm and later will be distributed to all districts.

The state has a stock of only 1.5 lakh doses of vaccines as on Tuesday morning. By Wednesday, there could be a complete breakdown in providing vaccinations. Now with more vaccines arriving in the state, there is a temporary relief.

With the present doses of vaccine, the state can hold the vaccination drive only for 2 or 3 days. The Health Department expects more doses of vaccine to arrive in the coming days.
