4 injured as car hits Chakkakomban in Idukki; wild tusker destroys vehicle

Idukki: Four passengers, including a child, were injured after a car hit a wild tusker, locally known as Chakkakomban, in Poopara on Tuesday night.

The incident happened at around 7 pm on Kochi-Dhanushkodi National Highway. The injured are Choondal native Thankaraj and his family. According to the locals, the car met with the accident after the tusker entered the road. Following the accident, Chakkakomban turned violent and destroyed the car.

The injured were shifted to a private hospital in Poopara and later to Theni Medical College Hospital. It is learned that none of them suffered serious injuries.

According to the locals, Chakkomban has been active in the region for the past two days. It is unclear whether the elephant suffered any injuries. The Forest department will examine the elephant's condition on Wednesday.
