362 patients, 1 death; COVID-19 concerns in Poojappura central prison

More and more positive cases are being reported in the central jail after tests are conducted each day.

Thiruvananthapuram: There are serious concerns over the coronavirus spread in Poojappura central prison where 145 tested positive for the disease. A total of 298 people underwent COVID-19 tests on Sunday.

Among the 145 positive cases, 144 are inmates and one is an officer. With this, the total number of COVID-19 cases reported in the prison rose to 362. An undertrial prisoner named Manikandan (72) had succumbed to the virus on Sunday.

More and more positive cases are being reported in the central jail after tests are conducted each day.

Around 500 people have undergone tests during the last 4 days. As the patients are asymptomatic, they are being treated at a special centre inside the prison.
