35 persons, including 27 inmates, of old age home test positive for COVID-19 in TVM
Thiruvananthapuram: Triggering panic of community transmission, 35 persons of an old age home in the capital city tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday.
Among the patients, 27 are inmates, 6 nuns and 2 are employees.
The old age home is situated at Pulluvila, where community transmission of the virus was reported. The authorities expressed concern over the 27 aged people who turned COVID positive.
The government has been conducting more tests in the regions where community transmission of the virus was reported.
The people at the old age home tested COVID positive in the antigen test conducted on Friday. The test was conducted here to diagnose COVID-19 on bedridden patients.
As Pulluvila was identified as a containment zone, only patients suffering from severe illness were taken to the medical college from here.
Health workers have been providing medical care to COVID patients at their place itself. It is learned that the 35 new patients will be treated at the old age home itself.
