35 lakh applicants register in employment exchange; only 42,000 get jobs

Palakkad: Though there are 35.21 lakh unemployed youth registered in employment exchanges in the state, only 42,685 were given appointments in four years. The applicants who have seniority in various reservation categories were given jobs in different positions in each employment exchange.

The highest number of persons were appointed in Thiruvananthapuram. A total of 5652 persons received employment here. The lowest number of appointments were given in Wayanad with 1509 persons getting jobs. Most number of persons were registered in Thiruvananthapuram (5,42,037) and least number is in Kasaragod (91,327).

It has been directed that all temporary placements in government departments and other institutions under the government should be done through employment exchange.

If the vacancies in government and quasi government institutions, board, company and corporations which do not come in the purview of the Public Service Commission (PSC) are not filled via employment exchange, action will be taken against the head of the departments.
