34 new hotspots in Kerala, 524 in total
Thiruvananthapuram: As new COVID-19 cases continue to record over 1000 in the state daily, 34 more areas were identified as COVID-19 hotspots in the state. With this, the total number of hotspots in Kerala touched 524.
In Ernakulam district, Udayamperoor (Containment zone ward 10), Mulavukad (1,15), Kuzhuppilly (6,11), Aikaranad (1), Muzhavannur (3,4,8), Pulippara (sub ward 18), Ayyampuzha (9) and Parakkadavu (sub ward 5) were declared as hotspots.
In Palakkad district, Kizhakanchery (15), Thrithala (6), Mathur (15), Kannadi (10), Thachanattukara (6), Kottayi (3), Nenmara (19) and Eruthempathy (13) were identified as hotspots.
Varantharappilly (22), Mathilakam (10), Paralam (1,8,9,12), Pariyaram (4,5) and Chelakkara (7,8) in Thrissur district and Kottur (12), Kattippara (2,3,4,7,8), Koothali (5), Puthuppady (16) and Kayanna (3) in Kozhikode district also turned hotspots on Sunday. Malayalapuzha (4) and Erathu (6,8) in Pathanamthitta and Upputhura (16) and Kumily (7,8,9,12) in Idukki were also named hotspots.
In Malappuram,Niramaruthoor (16,17) and all wards in Kottakkal municipality, Nilamel (1,2,13) in Kollam district and Mullankolli (18,33) in Wayanad were also added to the list of hotspots.
At the same time, 8 areas were removed from the list of hotspots. In Ernakulam district, Nedumbassery (sub ward 15), Chendamangalam (9) and Alangad (11,14,15) were removed from the list. At the same time, all wards in Kondotty municipality, Pallikkal and Pulikkal in Malappuram also excluded from the list. Ittiva (2,4,5,12,20) in Kollam and Varavoor (2) in Thrissur district were also removed from hotspot list.
