32 new hotspots in Kerala, 607 in total
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala has identified 32 more areas as hotspots of COVID-19 on Friday. At the same time, 8 areas were removed from the list. With this, the total number of hotspots rose to 607 in the state.
The new hotspots in the state include 7 areas in Kottayam - Nedumkunnam (containment zone ward 6), Panachikkad (18), Kumarakom (17), Erattupetta (9,11,12), Theekoyi (13), Ramapuram (7,8) and Uzhavoor (12). In Kollam district, Neumpana (17), Sooranad south (5), Perayam (4,5), Perinad (1,2,20) and Melila (9) were declared as hotspots. Vandiperiyar (sub ward 2), Alakode (sub ward 2), Kanchiyar (sub ward 3,4,10,14) and Chakkupallam (sub ward 4,5,6) in Idukki and Balal (12,13,15), Belur (7) and Panathady (7,8,14) in Kasaragod were also identified as hotspots.
In Thrissur district, Eriyad (13), Madakkathara (sub ward 4) and Thekkumkara (13) were added to the hotspot list.
Nedumbassery (18), Koovappadi (4) and Perumbavoor (21) in Ernakulam and Nenmeni (sub ward 15, wards 18,19, 20) and Kottathara (7,8) in Wayanad district were also declared as hotspots.
Kainakary (10) and Nedumudi (2) in Alappuzha and Kanjiramkulam (1,10) in Thiruvananthapuram were also named as hotspots on Friday.
Vazhayoor (3,4,13) in Malappuram and Niranam (12) in Pathanamthitta were also added to the list of hotspots.
Meanwhile, 8 areas were removed from the list of hotspots. In Palakkad district, Polpully (ward 1,2,11), Mankara (9), Thachambara (1,10,12) and Kottayi (3,9) were removed from the list. Aloor (10,15) in Thrissur, Chaliyar (1,5,11,12,13) in Malappuram, Thiruvaniyoor (11) in Ernakulam and Kuthiathode (1) in Alappuzha district were also dropped from the list of hotspots.
