Kannur: Three vehicles were gutted in a fire that broke out near Valapattanam police station in Kannur during the wee hours of Tuesday.

A car, jeep and a two-wheeler, seized in various cases and parked near the police station, were gutted in the fire. One vehicle has been completely destroyed.

Police suspect someone has intentionally set the vehicles on fire. Chandy Shameem, facing charges under KAAPA (Kerala Anti-social Activities Prevention Act), created a conflict at the police station the other day. He assaulted a police officer for registering a case against him.

Police suspect that the accused and his accomplices took revenge by setting the vehicles on fire. Interestingly, one of the vehicles gutted belonged to Chandy Shameem.

A fire force unit from Taliparamba doused the fire.
