Thondamuthur : Three Malayali students died after a car fell into a ‘Kokkarni’ (a farm pond) near Thondamuthur in Tamil Nadu, police said on Friday. The deceased were identified as S Ravikrishna (18), V Adarsh (18) and S Nandanan (17). Another co-passenger, Roshan, miraculously escaped from the accident.

Four of them were returning from a club in Siruvani road after the celebrations of the Onam festival. The accident happened as the car lost control and fell into the open well of a farm, on Friday at around 6.15 am. The incident occurred at Theenamalur village, in Thondamuthur, which falls on the outskirts of Coimbatore.

The pond with 120 feet depth has over 50 feet deep water in it. Roshan, who was driving the car, could escape by swimming after opening the door. The dead bodies of others were recovered only after hours of combined efforts of police, Fire and Safety officials and locals.

Ravikrishna is the son of Pattambi native Sanjeev Shankar and Nandini. They were residing in Vadavalli, near Coimbatore. The other students and their families were also living in Vadavalli for years.
