3 killed in scooter-bike collision in Changanassery


Jinto and Varghese were coming from Thengana direction on their scooter. It rammed into Kevin and Jerin's bike that came from the opposite direction.

Kottayam: Three persons were killed after a scooter and a bike collided at Valiyakulam in Changanassery here. The deceased are identified as Changanassery Kuttamperoor native Jerin Johny (19) who is a BCom student at Rajagiri College in Ernakulam, Malakkunnam native Varghese Mathayi aka Jose (69) and his son-in-law Vazhappally native Jinto Jose (37).

Vazhappally native Kevin Francis (19) who was travelling with Jerin Johny on the bike sustained serious injuries and was admitted to Chethippuzha hospital in Changanassery. The mishap occurred on Saturday night at 10.30 pm.

Jinto and Varghese were coming from Thengana direction on their scooter. It rammed into Kevin and Jerin's bike that came from the opposite direction. Both the scooter and bike were completely damaged under the impact of the collision. The locals and the police rushed the injured into hospital.

Jerin Johny succumbed to injuries at 12 in the midnight. Jinto Jose died on Sunday by 4.30 am and Varghese breathed his last by 5.30 am. The bodies kept at medical college hospital will be handed over to relatives after COVID test and postmortem. Changanassery police charged case regarding the mishap.
