25 new hotspots in Kerala, 616 in total
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala identified 25 more hotspots on Saturday as the number of daily COVID-19 positive cases touched 2172. Meanwhile, 17 areas were removed from the hotspot list. With this, the total number of COVID hotspots in the state increased to 616.
In Thrissur district, Edavilangu (containment zone ward 1), Kadavallur (19), Mooriyad (13), Valappad (16) and all wards in Vadanappally were declared as hotspots.
In Alappuzha, Arattupuzha (7,8,11), Nooranad (2,3,4 sub ward), Bharanikavu (12), Mararikulam north (9) and Devikulangara (13) were identified as hotspots.
Vadasseikkara (8), Pallickal (8), Aranmula (2) and Pandalam-Thekkekara (6,10) in Pathanamthitta and Thiruvaniyoor (sub ward 7), Kalloorkad (2), Aikaranad (9) and Elanji (7) in Ernakulam were also turned hotspots on Saturday.
Pattithara (6), Melarcode(16) and Thachampara (13,14) in Palakkad and Chelannur (2) in Kozhikode district were added to the list of hotspots.
Vettikavala (11) in Kollam, Valanchery municipality (8,13,14,20) in Malappuram and Noolpuzha (sub ward 13) in Wayanad were also declared as hotspots.
Meanwhile, 17places were removed from the list of hotspots.
Puthenchira (ward 14), Erumapetty (ward 1, sub ward 18) and Varavoor (5) in Thrissur district and Rajakumari (sub ward 3,4,6), Muttom (10), Edavetty (sub ward 11, wards 12,13) in Idukki district were dropped from the list. In Wayanad district, Vellamunda (10,13), Thondarnadu (1, 2,3,5,6) and Mullankolli (sub ward 17,18) were excluded from the list of hotspots. Muliyar (8) and Badiyadka (1,5) in Kasaragod district and Othukkungal (3 to 6, 8 to 19), and Moothedam (5, 7,9,10) in Malappuram were removed as containment zones.
Vadavannur (2,5) and Pallasana (2) in Palakkad and Neduvathoor (8) in Kollam and Malayalapuzha (4) in Pathanamthitta were also excluded from the list.
