A Vijayaraghavan addressing the media
Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state secretary A Vijayaraghavan said that the LDF meeting has finalised the decision regarding cabinet formation. There will be 21 members in the cabinet. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has been assigned to decide the portfolios of ministers, Vijayaraghavan told the media here.
CPM will get 12 minister posts while 4 ministerial berths will be given to CPI, 1 each for Kerala Congress (M), Janata Dal (S) and NCP. The remaining two ministerial posts will be shared by the other allies on two terms. CPM will hold speaker post, CPI will be given deputy speaker post and chief whip post to Kerala Congress (M).
Janadhipathya Kerala Congress MLA Antony Raju and INL MLA Ahammed Devarkovil will hold the minister posts during the first term and Kerala Congress (B) MLA Ganesh Kumar and Congress (S) MLA Ramachandran Kadannappally during the second term.
Antony Raju won from Thiruvananthapuram defeating UDF's VS Sivakumar. INL candidate Ahammed Devarkovil won from Kozhikode south constituency defeating Noorbina Rasheed of UDF. The party has been waiting for 25 years for this victory.
LDF parliamentary party leader will be elected on May 18 evening. Then the Governor will be visited seeking advice for the swearing-in ceremony. Considering the Covid situation, no crowd will be allowed for the ceremony, Vijayaraghavan made it clear.
