Thiruvananthapuram: Reports on the preparations by the Kerala BJP unit for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections have emerged. According to them, the party veterans, including state president K Surendran, will not contest in the elections.
BJP is desperate about opening an account in general elections in the state. It is learnt that the senior leaders will be the ones who pull the strings to achieving the same. The state president and general secretaries will work towards this.
However, the final call on the matter will be taken by the BJP’s central leadership and changes are expected.
As BJP has been eyeing the Christian vote bank, members from the community are more probable to be considered for the candidacy. The party also expects that Congress rebels may join them.
The veterans had been in Karnataka for election campaigning. The state-level office-bearers’ meeting has been slated for May 17.
