2 young women who attempted Sabarimala darshan asked to retreat
Pamba: Protestors have blocked two young women Reshma and Shanila who arrived at Sabarimala for darshan on Wednesday morning. The police forcefully removed them from the place and have requested them to retreat from further trekking due to mounting protests by the namajapa protesters. They were brought to Pampa amidst tight police protection.
Five people who recognized the women blocked them at Neelimala and started chanting mantras. Reshma Nishanth and Shanila Sajeesh who had come to Sabarimala earlier too have reached again. The protestors later divided themselves into two groups and sat on the spot.
A 8-member group including two women reached Sabarimala early morning at 4.30. 5 people staged protest when the group reached near the water tank at Neelimala. Though there were only a few police officers on the spot, more arrived and provided protection. The women were reluctant to return even after assistant commissioner A Pradeep Kumar talked with them. Following this, the protestors sat at the spot. The women were also stubborn in their stand.
Police arrested 5 protestors from the spot. They made a protective cover around the women as more people started reaching the area.
Reshma said that she had come for darshan after observing fast for 103 days. The women said that they have demanded security to the police. Protests are going on.
