Thiruvananthapuram: Two more students who appeared for Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical (KEAM) entrance exam in the state have been diagnosed with COVID-19. A Poonthura native from Thiruvananthapuram and a Kollam native from Anchal have tested positive for the disease.
The Poonthura native wrote the exam at a centre in Valiyathura. His mother has also tested positive for the disease. The exam was conducted under strict precautionaruy measures as the area has been listed as a containment zone.
The Kollam student wrote the exam at Mannam Memorial school in Kaimanam, Thiruvananthapuram. However, the mother and a relative of the student who travelled with her in the car tested negative.
The student has been undergoing treatment from July 19. However, there are allegations that the health department covered up this information. She had physical difficulties on July 18. Even though, she was diagnosed with the disease on July 19, health department did not reveal information on this.
There were allegations earlier that health department covered up the details regarding the cases in Kollam district. It is reported that this is because of the rift between district authorities and health department.
