2 killed as car rams on tree in Kollam


Kollam: In a tragic incident on Christmas Day, a car lost control and rammed on a tree at Kundara on Sunday early morning. Kundara natives Jobin D’cruz and Perayam native Agnel Stephen lost their lives in the accident while three others sustained grievous injuries.

The car was going to Kundara from Kottiyam when it lost control in front of Kundara Perumpuzha Society at Valiyapalam. All the five inmates of the car were flung out of the vehicle in the impact of the collision.

It is learnt that the vehicle was overspeeding at the time of the mishap and this was evident from the CCTV visuals. An officer of Kundara police station said the incident occurred around 3.30 AM when the youths were coming from Perumpuzha area of Kollam.

Visuals on TV showed CCTV footage of the car ramming into a tree on the roadside and rebounding back onto the road.

Kundara police have reached the place and are conducting preliminary inquest. The police have registered a case. A detailed probe is on to ascertain the actual cause of the accident. The bodies have been taken to the Kottiyam and Kollam hospitals.
