Pathanamthitta/Alappuzha: In the first phase of the LSG polls held in 5 districts of Kerala, 2 persons collapsed and died in polling booths on Tuesday.

Mathayi, a 90-year-old voter collapsed and died soon after casting his vote at Ranni in Pathanamthitta district. In the second incident, 62-year-old Balan who came to exercise his franchise at SNDP HSS at Mahadevikkadu in Haripad also passed away in the midst of polling.

Voters, who have tested positive for the Covid infection or those placed under quarantine after 3.00 pm on Monday, would be allowed to cast votes in their respective booths in the evening after all the voters have exercised their franchise, official sources said.
