Kozhikode: Two children died after they fell into the water while taking a bath in the Arippara waterfalls in Thiruvambady here on Sunday.

The deceased children have been identified as Palazhi natives Aswanth Krishna (15) and Abhinav (13).

The children accidentally fell into the water while on a vacation special picnic with a 14-member group of family and friends. They were reportedly rushed to the hospital but succumbed.

Three others who jumped into the water to save them too were swept away. They were rescued by the locals and life guards. They are admitted to Thiruvambady taluk hospital.

Police said that the tour group reached the waterfalls in the afternoon. Some of the members of the group started taking a bath in the waterfalls. They lost control and fell into the water body leading to the death of the two children.
