Kozhikode: The additional district sessions court-III here acquitted all four accused including, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairman Abdul Nasser Madani of charges in the Coimbatore Blast Case. The court has acquitted the accused of charges like conspiracy and sedition in the serial blasts that happened 25 years ago.

The judgement was pronounced by judge R Madhu.

The prosecution failed to prove the charges, the court noted.

The acquittal in cases is prolonged due to various government-related procedures.

In the case, Madani was framed for aiding the prime accused in the 1998 serial blasts case based on the latter’s statements.

58 people were killed and over 200 others injured in 12 bomb blasts on February 14, 1998, in Coimbatore, across 11 different locations.
